Established in June 2022, Malibu Coast Pet Retreat was created to offer a more thoughtful alternative to traditional boarding—one that prioritizes both quality of care and a better overall experience for pets.

Our approach is simple: provide a structured, safe environment while ensuring pets receive the exercise, enrichment, and individual attention they need to feel comfortable and balanced. Rather than operating around volume or group-based care, we tailor each pet’s experience to their personality, energy level, and comfort.

We use fear-free, positive reinforcement methods as the foundation of our care. By focusing on trust, consistency, and clear communication, we create an environment where pets can settle in, build confidence, and have a genuinely positive experience.

Through structured routines and one-on-one care, we’re able to safely accommodate pets who may not be a fit for traditional daycare or group play. At the same time, this level of care isn’t reserved for specific cases—dogs and cats of all temperaments benefit from a more intentional, individualized approach, resulting in a calmer, more positive experience overall.

As part of a veterinary-based facility, our standards are guided by medical oversight and a strong focus on safety, cleanliness, and proactive care— allowing us to operate with a higher level of awareness and attention to detail in everything we do.

We love Malibu Coast Pet retreat.😀All of the staff there are so wonderful and thoughtful. Our dog is always so happy to go there, and when we pick him up we can tell that he’s had a great time and isn’t stressed or strung out the way he used to be when staying at other boarding locations. We can tell how much he is loved by the staff and also have peace of mind knowing the veterinary clinic is right next-door should there ever be a sudden health issue.

This place is great!!!
My dog was just diagnosed with secondary glaucoma the week I needed to fly out of town. They were the only place that was willing to take him on. The staff is very friendly and answered all my questions. My English Bulldog is a smart pup and giving him eye meds is a challenge especially when he's in pain. They were very confident that their vet technicians would be able to handle giving him medications 3-4x a day. I was gone foe 11-days, the first few days they knew I was extremely concerned about his medications and they gave me updates every day for the first few days because they were also having issues giving him all his meds. By the 3rd day, they figured out a system and was able to give him all his meds the remainder of his stay. He went in feeling pain and was very snappy, but came home as normal as can be. This facility and the team are over the top when it comes to pet care, I just wish they were closer to my home so I can take him there as a primary vet. But they will be my primary boarding service from here on out!
